As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so what better organization to feature on our blog than Breast Cancer Action Ottawa. Breast Cancer Action was established in 1992 by a group of women who knew firsthand what breast cancer diagnosis meant to patients and their families. BCA Ottawa provides information, support and education to people diagnosed with breast cancer, their families and the community.
It doesn’t take much to realize that what they do is life changing for many local community members here in Ottawa. Their services are plentiful; including pre-operative education sessions, peer support, fitness classes, lymphedema Workshops and educational outreach.
BCA shows they care by engaging their members in exercise programs. One such activity is their “Busting Out” Dragon Boat team – this boat is powered by a diverse group of people who fight for awareness of this disgusting disease. They fight for themselves, they fight for their children. They fight for friends they have lost & those who have survived. They fight for your grandma, your mom, your friends and your sisters. They fight for women everywhere. You can learn more about their team by visiting www.bustingout.ca. Breast Cancer Action Ottawa’s offerings do not end here; visit their website www.bcaott.ca to see a complete list of their programs and services.
