Volunteer Ottawa is already planning exciting events and opportunities for National Volunteer Week (NVW) and we want you to get involved.

Whether you are a long-standing volunteer, looking to volunteer or you are an organization that relies on volunteers to deliver your programs and services, we want to hear from you!

Volunteer Ottawa’s blog is the place in Ottawa to leave a comment, thank a volunteer, and get involved. Share your stories with us!

About National Volunteer Week

Canadians have a rich history of volunteering and community involvement. Volunteers are on the front lines of all of our community services – community health care, heritage and arts, maintenance of green space, disaster relief, volunteer firefighting, minor sports – the list is endless. The work of the volunteer is essential. National Volunteer Week (NVW) pays tribute to the millions of Canadian volunteers who give their time and energy.

NVW is the biggest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism this country has and we want you to be a part of the celebration!

VO Events & Activities

This year we will hosting our 3rd annual Volunteer Rendez-vous on Wednesday April 13, 2011. Volunteer Rendez-vous is a great opportunity for volunteers to connect with community organizations in an informal, relaxed setting. More details to come on the Volunteer Ottawa website.

We are also taking part in the ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Challenge. We are looking for Youth Volunteers to help raise over 10,000 volunteer hours over three weeks with other Youth across Ottawa. We just blogged about how YOUth can get involved – check this out: ChangeTheWorld Ontario Youth Challenge.

More to come! This is just the beginning!
