En français SVP:
Carlington Community Health Centre needs someone who enjoys reading and interacting with school-age children, in French. The French as a Second Language program runs Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The kids supply their own books to read and discuss, or the volunteer can supply reading matter. The three-to six-month commitment includes attendance at weekly meetings for the first while. Call Rosetta Foti at 613-722-4000 ext. 265.

Urgent foster homes needed for house dogs:
Good Dog Rescue is a group of dedicated volunteers whose main mission is to find foster and forever homes for dogs in need. The dog-loving volunteers are provided with training, veterinary care and food. You provide a fenced yard and a family. Keep it clean:
Ottawa’s system of pedestrian and bike paths are looking for volunteers to be their eyes while walking, running or rolling along the system. The Pathway Patrol keeps the pathways in Ottawa safe by being the “eyes of the path.” Training is provided free of charge and volunteers are given a City of Ottawa shirt. Welcome/Bienvenue:
Volunteer Ottawa is looking for a Monday volunteer receptionist. French language would be helpful, but is not essential. What is essential is a pleasant telephone and personal manner, knowledge of general office tasks and some familiarity with Microsoft Office products. This office is accessible to persons with challenged mobility and the No. 18 bus stops nearby. Call Joan Anderson at 613-735-5266 ext. 154.

Spring Cleaning:
The Waupoos Foundation provides holidays for low-income families in the Ottawa area. Spring cleaning is now underway to prepare the cottages and lodges for the busy season ahead. Volunteers are needed to assist during some upcoming clean up days (April 10, April 18-19, April 27 and May 7). A perfect opportunity for a group or family who want to work together. Bring your own transportation, energy and enthusiasm and we’ll supply the cleaning materials. Various cleaning projects available indoors and out. Get On Board:
The Ottawa Safety Council helps Ottawa’s citizens prevent accidental death, injury and the destruction of property resulting from accidents. They are now looking for members for their Board of Directors. If you have skills in IT management, human, public Relations, finance and marketing they may have a place for you. The board meets one evening per month. Deadline for applications is April 22. Please submit résumé to nominations@ottawasafetycouncil.ca.
