National Volunteer Week: People, Words & Change

We are celebrating National Volunteer Week by highlighting our member organizations that rely on volunteers to sustain their services and programs. Today we celebrate People, Words & Change.

People, Words & Change provides free one-on-one tutoring to adults who want to improve their reading and writing, everyday math, or basic computer skills. Without the help of their great team of volunteers they would not be able to offer this needed service to our community. PWC helps people learn the essential skills that are needed to find and keep a job, further education and write more independently.

Here is what some of their volunteers had to say:

People Words & Change“Volunteering at PWC is particularly rewarding – watching your student evolve while gaining confidence (and even sharing his successes publicly) can be extremely meaningful”.
– Margaret M.

“While working as a volunteer tutor at PWC I have met many wonderful people with broad ranges of life experience. PWC staff provides excellent supporting services including teaching/learning resources and a flexible approach to scheduling that meets the requirements of my student. I am entirely satisfied that my time is well spent, I am well matched with my student, and my efforts are appreciated by the PWC team and clients. Volunteering within the PWC community is a source of joy.”
-Stephen
