Volunteer Ottawa staffer, Shelley Ann Morris, was in Saturday’s Ottawa Citizen talking about Won with One. Won with One is a national program that provides access to sport for the blind and visually impaired. Shelley is part of a team that is focused on showing the abilities of the blind and how they are to be regarded as equals in sport and in life. Here is what Shelley had to say:
Think triathlon is tough? Try doing it with your eyes closed. No one imagined that blind and visually-impaired people could do this – how could they ride a bike or swim in a straight line in open water? Would they be a danger to themselves or other runners on a race course?
