March is Red Cross Month!
You’ve probably seen the Canadian Red Cross’ logo on the news, or in your neighbourhood, and that’s because they are fundamental in offering communities across the world help when help is needed. Their goal is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world. We are lucky to have them right in our backyard with their Ottawa Branch!
Did you know in the Greater Ottawa Area…
- A team of Disaster Management volunteers are on call 24-7 to respond to personal disasters such as a house fire or flood?
- The Red Cross offers a variety of courses including first aid, CPR/AED, water safety and babysitting?
- Red Cross rents wheelchairs, walkers, bathroom aids and other health equipment for a nominal fee to those recovering from illness or injury?
- Over 300 youth received peer-to-peer training in Red Cross violence and abuse prevention education last year?
Want to find out more about the Ottawa Branch? You’ve got the opportunity to see inside their offices on March 29th when they open their doors to you to thank the community for its ongoing support and to provide members with an opportunity to learn more about the work of the Red Cross locally. Find out more about their Open House Event!
You too can get involved and volunteer with them, and by being involved in one of the largest humanitarian organizations, you are one person contributing to make a world of difference.
