A few hours makes a difference… It’s been said that the best part of volunteering for CHEO Foundation events is knowing that your efforts are helping the kids at CHEO. Funds raised through volunteer work supports ongoing research and helps the doctors and nurses at CHEO continue to improve the lives of our children and youth.
The sole purpose of the CHEO Foundation is to raise funds to help support the work of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Donations help the hospital provide a wide variety of pediatric programs, research, state-of the art equipment, medical and nursing education, and assistance for families in crisis.
Since CHEO opened its doors in 1974, the volunteer fundraisers had overcome numerous obstacles, and more than $4 million had been donated by the local community – a truly significant amount especially for that time.
One of these incredible fundraisers is coming up soon: The CN Cycle for CHEO on May 6th, 2012. There’s still time to get involved: They are looking for volunteers to help with the overall event, and it’s a great chance to get some of your volunteer hours if you’re still in high school. In fact, CN Cycle for CHEO is working closely with our ChangeTheWorld Youth Challenge here at Volunteer Ottawa, which encourages high school students to get out over the next three-weeks and volunteer.
