The Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities’ (OCAPDD) purpose is to support community integration and personal well-being for children and adults with developmental disabilities within the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton.
OCAPDD has a long tradition of excellence in the delivery of services to individuals with developmental disabilities and volunteers are an integral part of the OCAPDD team. Volunteers and the contributions they make enhance the quality of life emotionally, physically, spiritually and environmentally for the individuals OCAPDD serves.
Volunteers have said that “the best part of volunteering for OCAPDD is working with/for the individuals we serve. There is not too much that is more gratifying than developing a friendship or providing a service for our individuals. It will be one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever encounter. Friendship at its finest – open, honest, true companionship. If not involved on a personal note, fundraising or helping out for this group who has too little will be more than satisfying as well. Whichever way you are helping out is appreciated to the fullest.”
As part of our ChangeTheWorld Youth Challenge, OCAPPD is looking for high school students to take part in their Silver Spring Garlic Project. Many, many volunteers are needed to make everything happen. Money raised by the Garlic Project goes directly to helping the individuals we serve. If you love gardening and want to learn something new this could be the project for you. Learn all about planting, caring, and harvesting garlic. Become part of a team to get a project completed and the satisfaction of helping out a non-profit agency. This is a great team building activity for groups or family outing with a purpose. Volunteers are needed April through November.
Other volunteer opportunities include:
- Group Facilitator
- Leisure Buddy – One to one Support
- Therapeutic Riding Program Assistant
- Swimming Assistant
- Silver Spring Garlic Farm
