The meals are delivered by trained volunteers who provide a personal contact, a safety and security check as well as an interested daily visitor. Tax time: It’s almost tax time again: And the Nepean, Rideau and Osgoode Community Resource Centre (NROCRC) is looking for volunteers to help newcomers, seniors and low-income residents prepare their tax returns at our free income tax clinics. The clinics will run in March and April in Osgoode, Barrhaven and the NROCRC offices in the Merivale Mall. It may be cold outside but Friends of the Farm requires coordinators for three fundraising events – Craft Sale, Rare and Unusual Plant Sale, and Art on the Farm – which take place at the Central Experimental Farm on selected weekends from April to August 2013. The coordinators are responsible for planning and delivering each event. Duties include reviewing and selecting vendor applications, determining vendor table assignment, and scheduling volunteers to assist at each event. Position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, and ability to work well in a group setting. English/French and previous event planning experience an asset. Companionship: OCAPPDD needs volunteers for one of their elderly individuals who has dementia and receives dialysis treatments on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Dialysis lasts 2 -4 hours and the individual is finding it extremely difficult to remain quiet for that length of time. Her tolerance for sitting still without someone to distract her has declined. The volunteer would sit with her at the hospital in those last two hours, and engage her in activities, read and chat. You can choose one day or more. 2 hours or more. Urgent! The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario is gearing up for Heart Month in February. They need volunteers to coordinate and prepare for the 2013 campaign. The Heart Rally Coordinator will distribute/mail invitations, make phone calls for RSVPs to invitations and coordinate other participating volunteers. The Routing Coordinator will enter routes for February’s Heart Month campaign canvassers, train and guide volunteers.
