Volunteer Roundup: Ottawa’s Latest Volunteer Opportunities

Looking for ways to fight the cold and dark? There’s nothing to warm up your insides like reaching out a helping hand to others in the community. Here are a few volunteer opportunities among the many offerings at Volunteer Ottawa, a member of the United Way family of agencies. For more information, call us at 613-736-5270, or visit our website.

Writing/researching from the comfort of your home: The National ME/FM Association is a registered charity dedicated to helping Canadians with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Syndrome through education, communication, support and research. The charity is on the lookout for researchers/writers to help with correspondence, the newsletter, website content and other informational material. Your contribution as a volunteer will increase the organization’s capacity to reach out to patients, their families, health and social service workers and the public. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with writing. If you are interested, please contact mefminfo@mefmaction.com or leave a message at 613 829-6667.

What do research, architecture, and theatre have in common? Odyssey Theatre is seeking a development researcher for venue refurbishment. Over the past 27 years Odyssey Theatre, Ottawa’s premier summer, masked theatre company, has emerged as a singular artistic voice in Canada’s theatrical landscape and has created and produced a substantial body of original Canadian plays. The Company is replacing their bleacher seating at Strathcona Park and requires a volunteer with an architectural background or with an interest in architecture to research the development options and resources for this operation. As a volunteer you are expected to provide regular reports on your findings and a concluding report containing all relevant information. Research can be conducted from home. If interested, please call 613-232-8407, or info@odysseytheatre.ca
