Planning ahead: The Carlington Community Health Centre’s After the Bell program is for children/youth 6 to 13yrs old, focusing on recreational activities, homework help, and a healthy snack component. Its purpose is to help children/youth develop self-esteem and healthy habits. It takes place at All Saints Church, and operates in Summer: Thursdays 5pm- 7pm. Beginning September 4th, 2012: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30pm-6:30 pm. French-speaking volunteers are needed to assist participants with homework in French, help staff with preparing healthy snacks and participate/help encourage clients to get involved in pre-determined recreational activities. More Than Just Desserts is a signature fundraising event for The Arthritis Society in Ottawa as part of Children’s Arthritis Awareness Month, and will take place on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Sala San Marco, 215 Preston St. Volunteers are needed from 5:30pm – 10:30pm. You will ensure the efficient registration of guests at the beginning of the event, acting as ambassadors of the Arthritis Society and providing a warm and welcoming first impression to the event. You’ll greet guests, collect tickets, verify completeness of attendees’ personal information, and issue auction bid numbers. You will also ensure an efficient payment process for guests purchasing auction items. Volunteer payment clerks are required to retrieve bid sheets and items, and/or processing auction numbers and payments. As this is a licensed event, volunteers must be 19 years of age or older.
