Maison Tucker House is a sustainable environmental learning and retreat centre and they are currently looking for assistance with the planning and implementation of the Green Gala, a fundraising event for their organization and will be held on September 14th, 2013. Tasks include: contacting local businesses for sponsorships and auction items, helping with set-up the day before and day of, and assistance on-site at the event. Go green! On July 1, be a volunteer with the National Capital Commission’s (NCC) Green Team and experience CANADA DAY a whole new way. They are looking for Environmental Assistants to provide support by picking up recyclable materials such as water bottles and cans and placing them in the proper bin, and more. Get On Board: CENTRE 507, a drop-in and direct social service agency needs someone whose heart is with the marginalised people of our city. Contribute to our volunteer Board of Directors with energy and advice to bring more funds for our programs. We depend on donors for many activities, including purchasing computers to provide participants with Internet access and for preparing documents for employment. Do you have experience or a background in appealing to and communicating with prospective donors? Could you use your time and talents to enhance our donations from the community? We are a mission of the Ottawa Presbytery of the United Church of Canada. Many faith communities, individuals and private organisations support us financially and through gifts and volunteers. Staff works with over 100 participants daily, providing food, support, counselling and a place to be community, street outreach and fostering artistic expression. 2013 is their 30th anniversary.
